LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON USA COLLEGES?

If you are graduating from high school in 2010 or 2011 and plan on continuing your education at an American university or college you should start to do your homework now!!
There are close to 4,000 universities and colleges in the United States and you need to know which ones would be right for you. If you are graduating in 2010 and, even maybe, in 2011, you should have a good idea of what you want to study after high school and at what level. Depending on your academic standing, you will either go to a two year junior college or to a 4 year university or college program.
The other part of the equation is the athletic part. At what level will your baseball ability allow you to play at: junior college division 1,2 or 3; NAIA, NCAA division 1,2 or 3. The feedback from meetings with your head coach and from baseball showcases and clinics that you might have attended, should have provided you with the answer to the athletic question.
Once you have decided what you want to study and at what level of baseball you would like to play, where do you get the necessary information to make an educated decision? Well, i found that the College Board at http://www.collegeboard.com/ is an excellent place to go for information. Here is out it works. Once on the College Board website, under "College Search" click on "find your match" and you will be taken to College MatchMaker. Once on the College MatchMaker program you will be asked a series of questions such as, 2 or 4 year college; public or private; where in the USA; what you want to major in; what sport you want to play and level; etc. As an example, if you want to study business/economics and want to play at a NCAA division 2 level you will be given a list of over 170 colleges and and universities to choose from.
Now that you have a list of possible places to study and play, that is when your research work really starts. By clicking on the university name you will get all the information on that university, from what it takes academically to get in, what it costs, what degrees it offers, etc. It also has a link to that university website. You can than go to the university website and get more detailed information on their academic programs and get all the information on their baseball program including contact information.
I strongly recommend that all student athletes and their parents do their research well ahead of time so that they will be able to make educated decisions.
On another note, i just wanted to point out that the New York Yankees won the World Series as was predicted by our previous blog poll. When asked who would win this year's world series over 50% said the Yankees would win it. This goes to show that the readers of this blog know what they are talking about when it comes to baseball.
If you have not yet voted on the current blog poll, please do so. I am also looking for suggestions for upcoming poll questions. If you have any ideas please let me know or even better let all readers know by leaving your suggestions in the comment section.
I am also looking for good action photos of Royal players for the "Royals In Action" section. If you have a photo and don't mind having it on the blog please email it to me.
