LEE-HIM HITS GAME WINNING HOMERUN TO GIVE 18U ROYALS A SPLIT WITH 17U ROYALS

The Royals 18U started the first game of a doubleheader with the Royals 17U with 7 players missing and thus with a few players playing out of position and the result was to be expected as they were beaten by the talented Royals 17U team by a score of 11-1.
The back end of the doubleheader turned into a very close and exciting game with good pitching and timely hitting. The 18U team took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning when they sent  8 batters to the plate to face Adam Prashad, who started the game for the 17U team. Prashad pitched well allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, on 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 Ks in his 4 innings of work. The 3 runs in the top of the second inning were scored by Lee-Him, Dolan Dunigan and Adam Shaver on singles by Lee-Him and Shaver and walks by Dunigan and Slasor. Andrew Forester drove in a run on a fielder's choice and Leff drove in another on a sacrifice fly to right field. In the bottom of the second the younger Royals made it 3-1 when Wade Sage hit a rbi single to score Levi Larmour who had singled earlier in the inning and to move Adam Hoover, who had also singled, to second base. Sage and Hoover were stranded when 18U starting pitcher John Bryce got his second K of the inning for the third out of the inning. Bryce would go a strong five plus innings allowing only one more hit after the second inning . Bryce allowed 3 runs, one earned, on 4 hits, 5 walks and 6 Ks.
In the bottom of the 4th inning the offensive star of the game for the 17U team, Wade Sage, hit a double that drove in Patrick Pinlac, who had walked, and Adam Hover who got on base on an error. In the top of the fifth Brandon Hurst relieved Prashad and pitched a scoreless inning allowing a hit and a walk. After Bryce walked the first batter of the bottom of the fifth, Paul Anderson was brought in and pitched very well as he kept the opposition of the scoreboard and allowed only 2 hits in his 2 innings of work.
Joshua Lee-Him lead off the top of the sixth with a homerun over the right field fence off Carter Chapley, to give the 18U team the 4-3 lead . Matt Lahn pitched a scoreless top of the seventh for the 17U.
Lee-Him had a big game with a homerun, a single and two runs scored to lead the 18U Royals to victory. Dolan Dunigan with a single and Daniel Campos with 2 singles had the other hits for 18U Royals.
