The annual BBQ & INFORMATION NIGHT marks the beginning of the baseball season for the Oakville Royals Baseball Club. The try outs are over, the teams are set and excitement is in the air about the upcoming season.
For the 42 baseball players that will make up the 16U and the 18U teams this is the day that they get their uniforms, their schedule for the fall season and the first time that they all meet as team mates and not as competitors for positions in the team.
It was a beautiful night with lots of good food. The lawn of the Royals Oakville training facility was totally covered with all the players, their parents and friends and all the staff of the Royals Baseball Club. It had the feel of a very large family get together and everybody seemed to be having a great time.
After a couple of hours of food and good conversation, the over 100 people present moved inside for the formal part of the night. President Mel Swinton introduced the Vice President of the club Mike Swinton and all the coaching staff. Coaches Jason Booth, Derek Rothwell and Mike Siena all spoke and answered questions about the program and the year ahead.
It’s now time to prepare for the first game of the year which will take place on September 11th in Guelph where both teams are participating in the annual BRAWL IN THE FALL TOURNAMENT hosted by the Terriers.
LET’S PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!!
