COME BACK FALLS SHORT

The Royals opened their fall season with a 9-6 loss to the Toronto Mets at the Brawl in The Fall Tournament in Guelph, Ontario despite out hitting their opponents 11-5. After falling behind 9-2 the Royals scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 9-6. In the bottom of the seventh the first two Royal batters got on base but the next three batters all were out on balls hit to second base.
Clean up hitter J. Brooks went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and R. Fedrigo got 3 singles with a RBI. D. Pompey and M. Sharp both had 2 hits and stole a base. Second baseman Sharp also scored 2 runs and added a RBI. Others joining the hit parade were J Grant with a double and E. Largy with a single.
The Royals trailed 4-1 after two innings when starting pitcher D. Dunigan walked 5 batters and hit 3 others while giving up one hit and 4 earned runs. Left handed pitcher A. Filler took over in the 3rd inning and pitched 2 plus innings allowing 4 earned runs on 2 doubles and 3 bases on balls. RHP J. Park relieved Filler in the fifth inning after the lefty gave up a double to the first batter and walked the next two batters to load the bases with nobody out. The first batter that Park faced hit a double to right field scoring two runners and the next batter hit a fly ball to center field to score the Mets eighth run. Park come back out for the sixth inning and allowed a run on a hit a walk and a hit batter. After the first 3 Royals pitchers walked 11 batters and hit 4 others RHP C. Delorme got the three batters he faced in the seventh inning out on six pitches.
The Royals played solid defence turning two double plays and only commiting an error.
