ROYALS BEAT FLORISSANT VALLEY C.C. 13-9

After being silent the previous day, the Royals bats were working yesterday afternoon in St. Louis as they pounded out 15 hits to beat Florissant Valley C.C. 13-9.
The Royals scored three runs and left the bases loaded in the first inning and never looked back. In the third inning they scored a further seven runs to give them a 10-1 lead after three innings. The Oakville team scored one more in the fifth and their final two runs in the seventh inning. Edward Largy and Ryan Fedrigo lead the way with three hits and a rbi each. Jeff Slasor chipped in with two singles and two rbis. Also getting two hits and a rbi each were, Merik Sharp and Quinton Balla. Jahmal Brooks and Justin Zealand each batted in two runs to go with their one hit. Zealand also got on base three times via the walk. Jordan Grant and Jeff Park each got a hit and a rbi.
Right handed pitcher, Philip Hinton started the game and went 4 2/3 innings allowing four earned runs on three hits, five walks and seven strike outs. Hinton was relieved by Daniel Campos who went 3 1/3 innings allowing three runs, two of them unearned, on two hits, two walks, one hit batter and two strike outs. Left handed pitcher, Andrew Filler, relieved Campos in the ninth inning after the three first batters reached base and two runs had been scored by the St. Louis team. The American team scored two more unearned runs off the Canadian pitcher to make the final score 13-9.
The final score was closer than it should have been as the American college was helped by the six errors commited by the young Canadian team that gave Flo Valley four unearned runs.
At the end of the friendly game the American coaching staff declared their interest in signing four Canadian players: Philip Hinton, Jahmal Brooks, Jeff Park and Edward Largy.
This morning the Canadian team visited Busch Stadium, the home of the St. Louis Cardinals. They had a guided tour of the stadium that opened in 2006 including a visit to the broadcasting booth and the Cardinals dugout where many pictures were taken.
Tomorrow it's back to business as the Royals play a double header against Spoon River College in Canton, Illinois starting at 1PM local time.
