VANDERLAAN PITCHES NO HITTER OVER TERRIERS

Royals pitcher Mike Vanderlaan pitched a no hitter against the Terriers on Saturday night at Glen Abbey Park as the Royals took the first of two games by a score of 2-1. The Terriers scored their only run in the first inning as the Royals committed two errors but it was clear that Mike was on as he striked out the side while walking one. Vanderlaan was nearly perfect the rest of the game walking only one batter and striking out another eleven for a total of 14 Ks for the game. The lefty threw a total of 95 pitches over the seven innings 62 of them strikes.
Mitchell Mattarollo was the offensive star of the game scoring both of the Royals runs. He tied the game in the third inning and in the fifth he doubled and was driven in by Logan Karse's single.
In the second game of the night the Royals bats stayed cold as the Terriers won 7-0. The Royals had only two hits, a single and a double both by catcher Edward Largy.
Right handed pitcher Chris Ruediger went 6 innings for the Royals allowing seven runs, five of them earned on 10 hits and 4Ks. Ruediger did not walk a batter. Mitchell Mattarollo came in and pitched a perfect seventh inning.
