ROYALS HAVE A DIFFICULT DAY ON FRIDAY

The Royals faced two of the top teams in the Dekalb Invitational, the Southern Illinois Bullets and the Boyz of Summer and lost both games as they managed only one run in each game.
In the morning game the Royals faced the Southern Illinois Bullets at the Northern Illinois University baseball field and managed just one run on six hits. Jahmal Brooks continued to hit well getting on base twice on singles. Jonathan Del Pozo was 2 for 2 with 2 singles a walk and a run scored. Kyle Westwater hit a single and Daniel Campos had the Royals only extra base hit with a double in the third inning and an RBI.
The pitching was handled by Chris Ruediger and Mirek Sharp. Ruediger started the game and after two easy innings where he allowed only one hit was pulled after with 2 outs in the third after allowing four runs on five hits in the inning. Mirek Sharp came in and went the rest of the game allowing five runs, three of them earned, on 8 hits, 7 Ks and only one walk.
The evening game vs the Boyz of Summer was played at Sycamore High School and has in the morning game the Royals had trouble managing any offense as they once again managed only one run against an excellent team. Jordan Grant, Jahmal Brooks and Daniel Campos all had doubles with Campos for the second game in a row driving in the only Royal's run. Jonathan Del Pozo and Jeff Slasor had the other hits for the Royals.
Cody Delorme started for the Royals and lasted only 1 1/3 inning allowing 9 runs, 6 earned on 7 hits, 1 K and a walk. Delorme was relieved by Arsene Pinguelo, who was pitching in his first game in seven weeks due to injury. Pinguelo went 4 2/3 innings keeping the Boyz of Summer to 2 runs while striking out 5 and walking only one. Left handed pitcher Andrew Filler relieved Arsene in the seventh and allowed only one walk while striking out 2.
The Royals will play their final game of this 3 week tour of the USA today at 3:30PM before heading back home on Sunday morning.
