The Royals 18U and 17U teams had a chance to showcase their baseball talents in front of the Saint Francis University Cougars coaching staff in a workout on Thursday night and again in two games against the Saint Francis University Cougars. During the workout the Cougars coaching staff spoke to some of the players about their baseball and their academic standings.
The Cougars had little trouble beating their high school opponents as they won both games with relative ease showing that they are a good hitting team.
For the Royals the following pitchers had a chance to pitch in the Friday games: Arsene Pinguelo, Alex Mann, Luke Melymick, Graeme McCarrell, Brandon Hurst, Mark Wilush, Adam Prashad and Graham Davidson.
On the 18U team Daryl Taube hit 2 singles; Adam Shaver, Kaleb Leff and Kyle Westwater had singles.
On the 17U team Michael Craigen had a double and a single, Matt Lahn had a double, Cam Wilkie and Jason Darichuk had singles.
The teams now travel to Galesburg, Illinois where they are schedule to play the Carl Sandburg Community College Chargers on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers have three players on their roster that played for the Royals 18U team last season which will make this game a very special one for all involved.
