After the Royals White Team took care of business by beating Silo High School from Oklahoma by a score of 5-2 it was time for the Blue Team to start their double header versus Faulkner State C.C. and Niagara C.C..
After a very difficult start where the Royals fell behind 8-0 after 2 innings, the Royals played toe to toe with the team from Bay Minette, Alabama ending up losing 11-3. The Royals had doubles by Sage and Pattison and singles by Darichuk and Craigen and Leff turned in a beautiful catch in center field.
Dolan Dunigan started the game for the Royals and was followed after one out in the second inning by Lahn who pitched very well over 3 2/3 innings allowing only one run on two hits and a walk. Prashad pitched the final inning.
In the final game of the day the Royals Team Blue beat Niagara Community College 4-3 in what was a thriller of a game.
The Royals starting pitcher Arsene Pinguelo went 4 very strong innings allowing only 1 run on one hit, 4 strike outs and two walks and left the game with the game tied at one. Joshua Lee-Him pitched the 5th inning allowing one run on a hit and a walk. Mitchell Kay followed in the sixth but was replaced by Mark Wilush with one out and two men on base and did a good job to keep the Royals lead at 4-3. Paul Anderson came in to pitch the 7th inning and allowed only one walk while striking out one to give the Royals their second win of the day and their 5th win of this trip.
The Royals had 9 hits in total. Darichuk, Lahn, Pattison and Shaver had doubles and Leff, Bolton, Wilkie, Campos and Craigen all chipped in with singles to help their team to victory.
The boys will work out tomorrow morning followed by a visit to the Toronto Blue Jays spring training facility, the Bobby Mattick Complex.
