CARL SANDBURG COLLEGE INTERESTED IN FIVE ROYALS

Despite losing the game 21-5 it was a good day for the Oakville Royals!
After the game the head coach of Carl Sandburg College made offers to five Royals in an effort to have them join the Chargers next season in Galesburg, Illinois. The players being spoken to were: Catcher Edward Largy, short stop Jordan Grant, left fielder Mitchell Mattarollo, second baseman Mirek Sharp and pitcher Chris Ruediger.
The Chargers scored runs in all of the first seven innings with the big one being the third inning when they scored six runs, including two home runs off starter Chris Ruediger to take an 11-0 lead after three innings. Ruediger pitched three innings allowing eleven runs, eight of them earned on ten hits, one walk and one strike out. Cody Delorme replaced Ruediger to start the 4th inning but had problems with his location walking six Chargers in 1 1/3 innings. The Chargers scored 2 runs in the fourth on two hits and three walks. Cody started the 5th inning by getting a pop up to first base but walked the next three batters and allowed a hit to the following batter before being replaced by Jeff Park. Park pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing four runs on nine hits with two strike outs and two walks. The last inning was pitched by Mirek Sharp who on six pitches got a fly ball to center field, a grounder to short stop and a pop up to himself to end the game.
On the offense side the Royals scored two runs in the fourth inning and one run in each of the last three innings. The offense was lead by Edward Largy with a double and a single and a run scored. The Royals also got doubles from Justin Zealand, who also had an rbi, and Daniel Campos.
Singles came from Mirek Sharp, Jordan Grant, Andrew Filler, Mitchell Mattarollo and Jeff Slasor. Andrew Filler and Jonathan Del Pozo also chipped in with an rbi each.
The defense turned two double plays and Dolan Dunigan made two outstanding catches in center field.
Today the Royals travel to the state capital, Springfield to play Springfield College at 1PM.
