The Royals got off to a great start taking a 2-0 lead in their half of the first inning but that would be all the runs they would score as they fell to the Lewis & Clark C.C. Trailblazers 13-2.
The Royals got singles by Jordan Grant and Dalton Pompey and a doulble by Edward Largy in the first inning with rbis going to Pompey and Largy as they took a 2-0 lead. The Traiblazers tied the game in the bottom of the inning and added seven more runs in the bottom of the second making the score 9-2. Starting pitcher Ryan Fedrigo allowed 9 runs, six of them earned, on seven hits, 2 walks, 1 hit batter and 2 strike outs. Luke Miller, a left hand pitcher from the 16U team, took over for Fedrigo and went 2 1/3 innings. After walking the first batter he faced on 4 pitches, he settled down and got 3 fly balls to get out of the inning without allowing a hit. Miller faced 8 batters in the 4th inning as the much older American hitters scored four runs on four hits and a walk making the score 13-2 after 4 innings.
The Royals missed a great opportunity to score more runs when after loading the bases in the 3rd inning they failed to score as Jahmal Brooks striked out and Edward Largy hit into a 6-4-3 double play.
Luke Miller started the the 5th inning but was replaced by Arsene Pinguelo after giving up a single to the second batter of the inning. Pinguelo got the first batter he faced to fly to left field and got the third out of the inning when the next batter popped out to first base. Arsene Pinguelo pitched a scoreless sixth inning ending up with 1 2/3 innings, no hits, one walk and a strike out.
The Royals got hits from Mirek Sharp, Jordan Grant, Dalton Pompey (2), Edward Largy (2), Mitchell Mattarollo and Daniel Campos. Dolan Dunigan made an outstanding diving catch for the final out of the sixth inning.
The Royals move to Champaign, Illinois tomorrow to play the division 2 national champions, Parkland C.C. and Vincennes College.
